Etne
Etne municipality is renowned for its history of rich cultural heritage. During the Middlae Ages, Stødle was for a period the power stronghold of Norway. From here King Magnus Erlingsson reigned from 1161 to 1184. His father, Erling Skakke, is reputed to have built a private chapel on his estate. The chapel dates from 1160 and today is the choir section of Stødle Church.
Langfoss Waterfall is located in Åkrafjorden Fjord and was selected by CNN as one the most beautiful waterfalls in the world. Also located here is the Eikemo mountain farm where goats are reared. There is no road access. At the rest stops at Langfoss, Rullestad, and Åkrafjordtunet, stone parks featuring special rock types from around Norway have been constructed.
Places in Etne of a younger cultural heritage include the hamlet of Sæbøtunet Bygdetun and the Post Road that runs between Etne and Skånevik.
