Out at Ryvarden Lighthouse a monument has been erected in memory of Ramna Floke, who was the first viking to settle in iceland, which derived its name from him. Legend says that Ramna Floke built a cairn at Ryvarden in 869 ad before leaving his homeland. he is also believed to have sacrificed and spellbound three ravens that he knew were crossing the sea to the new land. visit the main building at Ryvarden Lighthouse where one of Ramna Floke’s ravens is still perched and on the look out.
