Ryvarden
Close to the sea, the lighthouse at Ryvarden makes for a great outing in all kinds of weather.
On the west coast of Norway, not far from Haugesund, there is an old lighthouse turned into a cultural building.
Hiking to the lighthouse
Beautiful for a visit in the summer, when the sea is calm and quiet, when sailboats pass by in the horizon and dandelion slightly nod their heads to you as you stroll along the path heading for the lighthouse …
Going for this short walk makes for a great Sunday outing and you’ll have a nice time drinking coffee and enjoying Norwegian waffles in the sun outside the cozy café by the lighthouse. There’s even a gallery here, where you may enjoy mostly art by Norwegian artists.
The nature and the lighthouse
But when the wind is blowing and the sea is rough; that’s when the true beauty comes to live. That’s when you feel the power of nature on the West Coast of Norway, turning the sea white with harsh waves hitting the shore. The buildings slightly shaking in the storm, the movements of the wooden materials giving away small sighs in the wind out there by the sea, will be memorable for visitors, for sure.
Stay at the lighthouse
Would you like to stay over night in the lighthouse? It is possible. You will definitely enjoy a true exotic stay.
